Zoila Rosa de la Cruz Curbelo, (89 years old), a resident of Miami Beach, Florida died on December 8 th , 2020. She was born on May 3 rd , 1931 in Esperanza, Cuba. Her parents were Miguel Caballero and Ana Dolores Fleites. She is pre-deceased by her brother, Diego Caballero. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Juan, her children, Rosalia, Julia and Juan Matias, her son-in law, Oscar and her granddaughter Zoey - all residents of Broward County, Florida. She is also survived by her siblings, Deleida Caballero (93 years old), Oneida Gonzalez (92 years old), Oscar Caballero (90 years old), nieces, nephews, step- daughter, step- grandchildren and step great- grandchildren.
She grew up in Cuba during the Great Depression. She emigrated to the United States with her parents in 1955 for more economic opportunities. She settled in New York City and worked as a seamstress. She married in 1965 to her husband, Juan at Saint Elizabeth's Catholic Church. Within 5 years of marriage, Zoila had given birth to her three children. Zoila and her family moved to Miami Beach, Florida in 1973 for better weather and economic opportunities for her husband. In Miami Beach, Zoila attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church and volunteered at her children's school, Saint Joseph's Catholic School. After raising her family, she returned to the work force until retirement. During her retirement, she raised her granddaughter Zoey.
Zoila enjoyed watching television, catching up with her family and friends on the phone, sewing, and cooking delicious meals for her family. She donated charitable contributions to Saint Jude Children's Hospital and the La Liga Contra el Cancer. She is remembered for her love of family, friends and God, and her adoration to La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre y La Virgen de Guadalupe. Zoila was strong, dedicated and loyal to all those around her. She was a loving, caring daughter, sibling, mother, wife and above all grandmother. Her absence will be felt by all her family and friends who loved her dearly.
The service will be at Our Lady of Lakes in Miami Lakes Florida on December 15 th , 2020 at 12 Noon. The interment will be at 1:00 p.m. at Vista Memorial Gardens 14200 NW 57th Ave, Miami Lakes, FL 33014
