Yolanda Lopez

October 6, 1936 — January 6, 2024

Yolanda Lopez, 87 years old, was reunited with her husband in heaven on January 6th, 2024.

She was born to the late Jose Segura and Concepcion Martinez in Moron, Cuba on October 6th, 1936. She was married to Aramis Lopez Sr. on October 14th, 1961.

She is survived by son Aramis Lopez Jr., son Juan Javier Lopez, grandson Kristopher Anthony Lopez, granddaughters Krysti Caroline Gomez, Jessenia Lopez, Ivanna Lopez, and great granddaughters Olivia Ren Gomez and Cecilia Rose Gomez.

To escape from communist Cuba, she and her family left everything behind and moved to the United States. She studied bookkeeping in Cuba, but in the United States she worked for many years as a seamstress to help her family get ahead, and subsequently worked in accounting alongside her husband at their family business.

Yolanda (Yoli) loved to cook and prided herself on always having enough food and a seat at the table for anyone who stopped by. She was best known for her famous and delicious croquetas. When her children and grandchildren visited, she made sure everyone was fed, and if they refused, she would pack the food in containers for them to take home. She was very caring and humble, with a heart of gold. Yoli loved watching Mr.Bean, old family home videos, and recounting stories about the early years of her children and grandchildren. She especially loved to garden. Her patio was covered with plants, which she spent many hours caring for. Her home was adorned with roosters, a tribute to her hometown's symbol. It was a fun family game to guess how many roosters were in her home, the latest estimate being 220! She also loved to dance in family gatherings, and even as of recently, she found the strength to dance with her husband one last time.

Even though her children were grown, the nurturing and motherly side of Yoli never ceased. She was a mother to everyone she knew, and she was loved by so, so many. Yoli was very dedicated to her family and loved being around her three sisters, Santa, Daisy, and Omayda. She was married to her husband for 62 years and the love they had for each other transcended beyond time and space, and will continue to live on, even after their passing.
