Sylvia Dominguez Arroyo, 90, of Opa-Locka, FL was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on
Monday, May 19, 2025.
She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 61 years, Ruben, and her beautiful middle
daughter and namesake, Sylvia "Sylvita" Cruz.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Roberto and Adelina Dominguez; sisters and brothersin-law, Sara and Victor Rodriguez,
Rachel and Tomas Martinez, Ruth Esther and William Perez,
brother, Robert Jr., and brother-in-law, Salomon Ramos.
Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Adelinda Cambi and Flora Arroyo; grandchildren, Joshua and wife,
Stephanie Danforth, Tanya Cruz, Michelle Cambi, Felicia Cambi, Geno Oliveros and Tristan Oliveros;
great-grandchildren, Adrianah Cruz, Timothy Blake, Isaac Oliveros, Isaiah Oliveros; sister, Adeline
Ramos, brothers and sisters-in-law, Gabriel and Betty Dominguez, Carlos and Felicia Dominguez, and
Laurie Dominguez, and dozens of nieces and nephews who absolutely adored her. Had she stayed
with us just a few weeks longer, she would have had the honor of being called a great-GREATgrandmother by Adrianah's new baby girl, Blair.
Though she was born in New York where she lived in her early years, Sylvia's parents moved the family
to south Florida to do the Lord's work when she was a teenager. She graduated from Miami Jackson
High School where she was involved in the Christian Services Club and sang for the raising of the flag.
It was during one summer after graduation when she was spending time visiting her grandmother in
New York, where she met the love of her life, Ruben. After her return home, they continued their long distance courtship through letters to
one
another and would eventually marry, beginning their
beautiful family in New York. After many years, they decided to bring their small family to live in Opa-Locka, Florida, a place they would call
home until both of their passing.
Sylvia was a beautiful woman with a strong faith in God that stemmed from her parents' vocation in
spreading the gospel. She was a devoted wife, dedicated mother, loving grandmother, caring sister,
and sweet aunt. She loved outdoor gardening, her favorite bloom being the hibiscus. She also loved
gifting everyone a song on their birthday every single year.
In the absence of her life, all who loved her will cherish the many wonderful memories she left. May
her soul rest in eternal peace with our heavenly father.
