Rosa Mas

Our dear mother, Rosa, transitioned peacefully in our home on Thursday, July 22 ^nd , 2021. Characteristic of her life, she went when she decided it was time; in peace, with dignity, courage, valor, and a humble nature and strength in the demise of hospice.   My mother was a fountain of positive energy and she touched so many people with her deeds of kindness and care with never expecting anything in return.  She was smart, had a unique sense of humor, hard-working, strong-willed, and a warrior till the end.  She was not shy in speaking her mind but yet open-minded and accepting of others.

She was born in Camaguey, Cuba in 1942.  She was the 4 ^th born out of 7 children.  In 1969, she came to this country for a better life and future for her children leaving her mother and siblings behind as they were unable to come.  It was painful and far from easy with many struggles but yet she marched on and provided us the education and life opportunities that this great country has to offer.  She was the bravest person we have ever known.

She was an adoring and loving grandmother.  During her many years of illness, her prayers were to see her granddaughter grow to age 11 and God granted her wish, one of the many miracles we encountered with our mother.  Aside from her kind deeds and loving ways, many of our families and friends will remember her for her wonderful cooking.  Her specialties included pierna al horno, pollo frito, our favorite ropa vieja with friloles colorados, ensalada de pollo and her much requested Flan.  She was always happy to please.  She was an amazing human being and will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
