Robert Lloyd Wright, 67, of Miami Lakes, Florida unexpectedly left this world to be with the Lord on Friday morning, September 18, 2026.

Robert “Rob” was born in Philadelphia, PA, the eldest of four children born to Elinor Rose Wright and the late Glennie “Glenn” Lloyd Wright. Robert was a loving and caring son to his parents, and wonderful big brother to his younger sisters and brother.

Robert met the love of his life, Elena, and they were united in holy matrimony. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Lydia.

As a young man, Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country with pride from 1979-1983, when he was honorably discharged. During his service, he was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas and then Seoul, South Korea. He took his military responsibilities very seriously and enjoyed the opportunity to serve his Country overseas.

Robert was a very intelligent youngster and started forecasting the weather and asking for weather instruments as gifts! His family was therefore elated when, after military service, Robert was hired as a weather specialist by the Miami Weather Center. The Center is a joint facility of the National Weather Service and the Federal Aviation Administration and provides critical meteorological data in support of aviation safety at the Miami International Airport. Robert was promoted to supervisor and recently celebrated his 40th Anniversary at the Center.

As a young man, Robert was baptized into the Church of Christ and was a firm believer in the divinity of Christ and the Christian faith. Robert was deeply rooted in his Christian faith. On June 25, 2017, he was Chrismated into the Eastern Orthodox Church and came to deeply appreciate its faith, traditions, and spirituality. Although Robert did not like religious labels and believed that Christianity was not simply a religion or denomination, but rather a personal relationship with God, he always simply considered himself a Christian. Robert was an avid student of the Bible, reading from it every evening. He had a particular love for the Apostle John’s Book of Revelation, which fascinated him deeply. He spent countless hours studying its symbolism, seeking to understand and decipher its mysteries. He was especially passionate about preparing for the Second Coming of Christ and would often encourage those around him to prepare as well. His love of Scripture was not simply an interest, but a deeply meaningful part of his daily life and faith. His life was deeply rooted in his Christian faith and in his love and devotion to his family and the people around him.

This is perhaps best described by his daughter, Lydia: “Dad was a loving husband and father to my mother and me. He often said that his purpose here on earth was for Mama and me, and he said that again just days before he passed. We will hold that memory in our hearts forever.”

Robert Wright also had a had a special love for animals, including his cats “Simba,” “Flower, “and “Moose,” a lost kitten he rescued while out walking. Robert rescued and fostered dozens of cats and kittens throughout the years---and even a mockingbird that he named “Bubble”.

Robert loved music and learned to play several instruments through the years including the trumpet and bass guitar and especially shared his father’s love for the violin. His outstanding talent and appreciation for music were gifts from God. He also loved playing the piano and singing in his beautiful voice with his wife and daughter.

Robert had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed making everyone laugh with his wonderful impressions of cartoon characters including Scooby-Doo, Barney Rubble, Yogi Bear, Mickey Mouse, and more. He had a joyful, loving, empathetic, and forgiving heart.

Robert is survived by his wife, Elena, his daughter Lydia, his mother, Elinor Rose (Gregory) Wright, sisters Susan Hess of Starke, FL and Jeanne (Gregg) Piro of Cooper City, FL, brother Daniel Wright of McIntosh, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
