Rasciel Socarras

Rasciel "Chel" Socarras of Miami Beach, FL passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the age of 87. After a long and healthy life, he lost a battle with cancer and died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family.

Rasciel was born on December 9, 1932 in Bahia Honda, Pinar De Rio, Cuba to Encarnacion and Silvio Socarras. He married Angela Piña on May 8, 1954 and they had 3 children. As a young man he worked with Angela at their family pharmacy in Bahia Honda. In 1970 he and his family fled communist Cuba to start a new life in the United States. He started and ran a successful wholesale grocery business in Miami. He lived in Hialeah,FL and later moved to Miami Beach where he lived with his wife in their Collins Avenue Apartment for many years. Rasciel is survived by his wife Angela; his two children Martha and Rasciel; his grandchildren Anelys, Arlyn, and Natalia; and his great-grandchildren Audrey and Gianna.  He was loved by all who met him, and served as a guiding light to his family, toward whom he emphasized the ultimate value of compassion.

Memorial viewing will be held on July 11, 2020 at 6:30 pm at Vista Memorial Funeral Home.
