Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on June 15 th , 1929 to Auguste Paul and Isabelle Hermantin , Paula Marguerite Paul, 93, was called eternally home on September 13 th , 2022, after living a long fruitful life and is now singing with the angels.
She grew up the second to last of 6 siblings. In her young adult life, she pursued a teaching career and taught elementary level students at Seguy Villevalex School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti . In 1965, she met her then husband-to-be, Lionel Paul, and they were married two years later. In 1967, she migrated from Haiti to the U.S. and settled in New York. She worked for Storm Company in Brooklyn manufacturing typewriter ribbon. After 8 years, she and her family relocated to Florida due to the cold weather. In 1975, she began working as a filing clerk for Attorney's Title Services until she retired in 1992.
After retirement, she enjoyed spending most of her time taking care of her grandchildren, reading her bible, going to ch urch, and watching mass on TV , music, singing, dancing, and traveling to spend precious time with family and friends. In 2006, at the age of 78 , she was first diagnosed with breast cancer and was determined to become a survivor. She joined a cancer support group for Haitian women and would become a very active and vital member of support for others. She enjoyed and cherished each member she interacted with through the years. After 10 years in remission, her cancer later returned in the form of bone cancer. Again, she was determined to fight until the very end.
Paula was predeceased by her siblings Germaine Paul, Auguste Paul, Jean Paul, and Gisele Guignard . She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Lionel Paul; her sister Jacqueline (Pierre Sr) Landrin ; her son Patrick (Maude) Beauvoir and h er daughter Myriam Bellande; her grandchildren Christopher Beauvoir, Darren Beauvoir, Dimitri Bellande, and Jeremy Bellande. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Gladys Theodule and Jacqueline Theodule ; her niece s Martine Camille, Marjorie Paul , Alondra Landrin, and Kimbley Dorce ; nephew s Eddy Paul, Pierre Jr. (Maytee) Landrin, Colbert (Cecile) Camille, Armani Landrin, and Jephthe (Armonie) Dorce ; and great grand-nieces Olivia Camille and Violet Camille . Her infectious smile and warm heart will be deeply missed by many other loved ones and close friends .
