Nabil Batarseh

March 26, 1941 — April 26, 2024

Nabil Hanna Batarseh was born in Bethlehem, Palestine in 1941. He was raised in Cairo, Egypt, where he attended an all boys Catholic school. He graduated from high school in the summer of 1959. Nabil then attended the College of Agriculture for one year, at Assiut University, Egypt. In the summer of 1961, he joined the traveling work force and worked all kinds of jobs, while traveling between Jordan, Kuwait, Germany and the United States of America.

In December of 1969 he met his wife to be, Guillermina, and they were married that same month in Summerville, South Carolina.
They had two beautiful children, Helen and George. Nabil attended Trident College in Charleston, South Carolina and in 1971 he was awarded an Associate of Science degree in Electronics Technology. From there his technical background took him to Dade County, Florida, where he joined Florida Power and Light Company.

In December of 1984 he graduated from Barry University with a Bachelors Degree.
Nabil was at United Business Institute as an electronics instructor and then later promoted to Chairman of the Department.
When United Business Institute closed its doors, he used his degree to get his teaching certificates in the fields of math, physics, electronics and electrical. He then became an adult education teacher of math in the Dade County school system.
Nabil was recognized for his outstanding contribution in Profiles on Parade in November of 1998 and is quoted as saying, "I would like to say that it is never too late to get an education and succeed in life."

Nabil dearly loved his family and also added he wanted to "thank [his] family for their support, Barry University for my education and the Lord for His love and protection."

Nabil is survived by his loving wife, Guillermina, their daughter, Helen, their son George (Deborah), and their grandchildren, Christopher and George.
