Monroe Benjamin Phagan

Monroe "Bo" Phagan, a 55 year resident of Miami Lakes, passed away Thursday the 7th of September surrounded by his family. He was born in 1937 in Miami, Florida, to Grover and Katrina Phagan. He graduated from Miami Technical High School in 1955. Monroe earned a general contractor's license and worked in many aspects of the construction business throughout his career, including owning and running Bo-Lar Steel Placement and Design Development of Broward. He retired from Dade County Schools Capital Improvement Division after working there for over twenty years. Bo was involved with the Miami Lakes Optimist Club for many years dedicating his time to coaching. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family as well as playing golf with his two sons. Bo was pre-deceased by Sandy, his loving wife of 60 years. He is survived by his two sons Brett and Glenn, daughters-in-law Jackie and Adrianne, and grandchildren Jessie, Liam, and Mia. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 14, from 5-9 pm at Vista Funeral Home in Miami Lakes, 14200 NW 57th Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Dementia Society of America and/or plant a tree in his honor.
