Miriam Barrios

Beautiful inside and out. Kind, loving, giving, always lending a hand. Never minded sacrificing
for others. Taught us right from wrong. Made sure we never lacked of anything. Was always,
always there for us for the happy and sad times.
Loved us and her grandchildren unconditionally. Loved her nieces and nephews as if they
were her own.
Born in Cuba, came from a large united family. Married young and had four children. In 1968
our father and older brother fled Cuba to the USA looking for a better life. He claimed our
Mom and the other 3 siblings; four year old twins and nine year old sister, several years later.
During those years in Cuba our Mom took care of us and fed us all on her own.
Once reunited, we enjoyed a good and happy life for a while but their marriage came to an
end and again our Mom was by herself raising now four teenagers. With the grace of God,
her hard work and good examples she did a very good job with us. Everything we are today
we owe it to her.
One of our good friends saw herself alone and our Mom didn't hesitate to open her doors.
She lived with us for a number of years now making it 5 teenagers to raise. During "El Mariel"
19 of our family members came from Cuba and again our Mom took charge. She took
everyone into to our 3-bedroom apartment. We never once felt crowed but showered with
love and dedication to family.
God once again placed a good man in our Mom's path. She married him and this coming
October they would have been celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary. They had a great
life together; they traveled to many places and enjoyed spending time with their
grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Our Mom loved family gatherings and cooking for
everyone. She sure did like to have fun too; she liked dancing and enjoyed a Kahlua and
Coquito drink.
On September 3, 2022 with deep sadness, we had to say our goodbyes to our beloved
mother, grandmother, and wife. We love her, will miss her dearly, and will always carry her
in our hearts and in our thoughts.
