Mercy Valdes, 84, of Doral, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026. Born on January 22, 1942, in Sancti Spiritus, Las Villas, Cuba, she lived a life full of courage, hard work, and love for her family.

In January 1971, Mercy made the brave choice to leave Cuba. She spent three years in Portugal before coming to the United States. She arrived in Hialeah, Florida, on May 24, 1974, ready to build a new life for herself and her family.

Mercy was a true entrepreneur. She owned and ran a private children's school bus service for more than 40 years, safely carrying generations of students to and from school. She was also a skilled seamstress. She studied at Miami Dade Community College, where she earned a certificate as an X-ray technician and another in early childhood learning.

Those who knew Mercy remember her gift for understanding people. She could read someone inside and out, often knowing what they needed before they said a word. She loved traveling with her family and made every child and grandchild feel like they were her favorite.

Mercy was reunited with her beloved husband, Roberto, who passed away in January 2025. Together, they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and community.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward: her sons Eduardo, Ernesto (wife Lissie), and Alex; her daughters Ivonne (spouse Mike) and Caridad (husband Larry); 8 grandchildren (7 boys and 1 girl); and 7 great-grandchildren (6 boys and 1 girl). 

Services will be held at Vista Memorial Gardens, 14200 NW 57th Ave, Miami Lakes, FL 33014. The viewing will take place on Tuesday, September 8, at 6:00 p.m., followed by the burial on Wednesday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m.
