Mary Kastle

Mary Kastle, 91, of Miami Lakes, passed away on Tuesday, July 21 at Jackson North Medical Center, Vitas Hospice in North Miami Beach, Florida after a 4 month illness. Mary was born on December 10, 1923 in New York City, New York to Athanasios & Matina Foskolos who emigrated from the Island of Tinos in Greece. At the age of 15 she lost her mother and as the oldest daughter was responsible for her younger siblings while her father ran their family restaurant business. Though the many hardships Mary faced in her life, she remained strong and devoted to her family. During WWII, Mary worked in the Confidential Master Files for Gibbs & Cox in New York City, a designer of United States military ships. In 1948 she met the love of her life, Bob Kastle at Wagner Tool & Supply Company (Watsco) where she worked as a bookkeeper & executive secretary. After a long courtship they were married in New York on June 26th 1953. Mary loved her family & New York but made the decision with Bob to move to Hialeah, Florida in March 1956 with his job as a tool & die maker for William Wagner. Mary and Bob loved the Hialeah/Miami Lakes area where they raised 5 children, Dora, Evelyn, Bob, Richard & Lisa. After 52 years of marriage, Bob passed away on September 10, 2005. Mary had a wonderful 10 years with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren until her passing on July 21st, 2015. Mary was interned on July 25th with her beloved Bob at Vista Memorial Gardens of Miami Lakes, Florida. Mary was the mother of Dora Marie (Bob) Schultz of Marietta, Georgia, Evelyn (Gilbert) Zuback of Lake Worth, Florida, Bob (Chely) Kastle of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Richard Kastle (Mike Caffey) of New York City, New York, Lisa (Mike) Hunadi of Pembroke Pines, Florida; and grandmother (Nana) of Bobby Schultz of Alpharetta, Georgia, Michael (Staci) Schultz of Cumming, Georgia and Joshua Kastle of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Also survives her sister, Bess Herzog of Los Angeles, California, brothers John Foscolos (Kim) of Broad Brook, Connecticut and Stamatios Foskolos of New York City, New York.
