Mary Ann Goodlett Taylor

Local pioneer and grand old lady of Miami Springs, Mary Ann  Goodlett Taylor went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 13, 2018.

Mary Ann passed away after a long illness, she was 88 years old. Mary Ann was preceeded in death by her husband, the     legendary Francis S. (Franny)  Taylor, a decorated WW2    combat engineer, genius and  visionary, father of the modern day airboat and well known conservationist; parents Hiram O. Goodlett and Helen M. Goodlett,  brother Robert O. Goodlett, (Clara), (Patricia); youngest son Kevin Lee Taylor, daughter Shirley Jean Taylor Prakelt (Victor). Mary Ann is survived by her oldest son George Edward Taylor (Joyce) and Kenneth Owen Taylor   (Maria), 5 grand children, Kerrie Ann Harper (Keith) and Brian Edward Taylor, (George), (Daniele,  Brians  fiancee),    Jennifer Taylor, (caregiver), Kathleen, and John (Kenneth), plus 7 great grand children.   Also many, many friends and relatives. Mary Ann was an honor student, studying to be an archaeologist, until she met the love of her life, Franny   Taylor. Mary Ann belonged to     numerous organizations         including a life member of the        Air-Boat Association of Florida, life member Florida Wildlife Federation, Dade Heritage Trust, a founder and president of the Hibiscus Fine Art Guild, a  member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Miami Springs Womens Club, Miami Springs Historical Board, Miami Springs Historian, Glenn Curtiss Historian, Curator of the Miami Springs Historical Museum,  Audubon Society. Mary Ann was a very talented artist, a   poet, recanture (story teller), a teacher of  Adult Education at Miami Springs Senior High School, etc., etc. Mary Ann was a devout Christian, and an elder in the Miami Springs Baptist Church.

Mary Ann and her daughter Shirley were instrumental in having the historic Glenn Curtiss mansion restored to its former grandeur. Mary Ann Taylor was known and respected by many, she will missed by all. Mary Ann Taylor was a life well lived. GOD Bless you, MOM, your    loving and devoted sons, George and Ken. Rest in peace MOM.

Viewing at Miami Springs    Baptist Church (378 Westward Drive 33166), Friday evening, April 20, 2018, 6 til 9 PM. Service at 11 AM , Saturday. April 21, 2018 , at the Church. Burial, following the services Vista Memorial Cemetery, 5755 NW 142 Street, Miami 33014.
