Marlene Alegre, 59, passed away peacefully on September 3rd, 2025 after a long battle with dementia. She was born in Havana, Cuba on February 1st, 1966 to Berta Julia Llerena and Antonio Padron. Just before her first birthday, her parents, along with her three older siblings and maternal grandmother, Lesmes, moved to Union City, NJ. In 1974, the family relocated to Miami, FL where they still reside to this day.
In 1988, Marlene gave birth to her only son, Nicoles Alegre. During his upbringing, they traveled to many tropical places together as Marlene loved the ocean and a life of travel. In 2017, Nicoles, now known as Swami Purnamsha, moved to India where he is pursuing a life as a monk, something Marlene encouraged and supported fully. Nicoles was Marlene's greatest joy and biggest accomplishment in life.
Always living for the moment, Marlene loved socializing, dancing, and soaking up every good time life had to offer. Her laughter was contagious and her smile always radiant.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, and is survived by her son Nicoles, her siblings Cecilia, Leo, and Betty, her nieces and nephews Alex, Aimee, Santi, Adrianna, Julian, and Emma, and her New Jersey family, Marta (aunt), Lesmes, Hector, Danny, and Alex (cousins).
