Lilia Dominga Galleno

December 20, 1933 — September 5, 2023

Lilia D. Galleno was born on December 20, 1933 in Chiclayo, Peru to Tomas Amay and Angela Gastiaburu, and passed from this life on September 5, 2023. Lilia was the beloved wife of 62 years of Felipe Galleno, who preceded her in death. She was also the cherished mother of Luis Galleno (deceased), Ray Galleno (Cathy), Carlos Galleno (Dulce), Philip Galleno (Gisela) and Michael Galleno (Angie). In addition, Lilia was an adored grandmother of 16 and great grandmother of 15, one of whom preceded her in death.

Immigrating to the United States with her husband and 3 oldest children in 1960, Lilia lived in Los Angeles for 12 years before moving to Miami, where she remained for the remainder of her life. A gifted seamstress, she and Felipe owned a successful textile business for many years. Yet it was in her retirement career that Lilia followed her passion, earning certifications in early childhood education and nutrition. This led her to serving as a beloved preschool teacher at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish. A woman of deep faith, Lilia was a devout Catholic throughout her life. She lived the gospel values, especially of welcoming the stranger, by the way she devoted herself to helping new immigrants to the United States transition to their new home. Lilia was also blessed with the gift of hospitality. An amazing hostess and cook, she routinely had visitors to her home and it was a place of countless joyful celebrations over the years. Lilia's family are heartbroken at her loss and will miss her always, but find comfort that she is reunited with her husband, son, brothers and sisters, all of her loved ones and many friends.

If you would like to honor Lilia, her family gratefully requests that in lieu of flowers please consider a gift to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or the charity of your choice.
