Leonor Isabel DixonApril 4, 1927 - May 25, 2021Leonor Isabel Perez Dixon was called home to heaven peacefully on 05/25/2021, at her residence in Miami Lakes.
Leonor was born on 04/04/1927 in Barranquilla, Colombia to Federico Perez Lara and Odeida Villaverde who preceded her in death.
She attended Colegio Karl C. Parrish in Barranquilla and finished her studies at Miss Harris Florida School, in Miami, Florida. She received a degree in Language and Communication.
She married Donald J Dixon, Major, Army Corps of Engineers (WW ll Vet) in March 1951. They moved to Caracas, Venezuela where they raised their family before moving to the US in 1968. They had 28 wonderful years of marriage until 1979, when her beloved husband passed.
She was an English teacher at Instituto Panamericano in Barranquilla. She later became a flight attendant for Aerocondor and traveled the world until she married. She was a devoted wife and mother and helped build the family business.
She loved all sports . She was an avid bowler and president of the Caracas Womens League. Along with her husband she also enjoyed tennis, golfing and fishing. She was president of the womens club for the Caracas Theatre Club.
She found joy in phalanthropy. In 1979 she was confounder of the Damas Voluntarias De Barranquilla in Miami, whose fundraising efforts are to assist in helping the "Asilo San Antonio" for the elderly, in Barranquilla. She enjoyed volunteering with her children at their favorite charities.
Leonor always touched many lives with grace, beauty, sense of humor and the ability to always keep all who knew her close to her heart. She devoted her time and energy as the best "Abuelita" to all her grandchildren and family.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband Donald, she was preceded in death by her sister Maria Fernanda Gregori. Surviving are her daughter Helen and son in-law Richard Shinners, her son Fred Dixon and mother of his children Maria Arguello, daughter Leonor and son in law Tom Hynes: Grandchildren, Vanessa, Richard, Karina, Christopher, Tara, Taylor, Sydney, Blake and Connor: Great Grandchildren, Logan, Leighton and Liam Oliver: One sister Carmen Cecilia Perez and niece and nephews Tosca, Piero and Pablo Gregori.
A private service and funeral for immediate family will be held on 06/12/21 in Miami Lakes, Fl. There will be a celebration of life for other family and friends at a later date.
