Kong Huan Lui

Kong Huan Lui, 95, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026.

Born in China, he left when he was young to Cuba, where he lived for nearly 20 years before and during the Castro regime. He went back to Hong Kong, where he met our mom, Fung Yee, and in 1972, they immigrated to the U.S., a country they didn't know but embraced with determination and hope for a better future.

They spent a few years in New York City and in early 1977, they moved south to Hialeah, where he worked tirelessly and built a life through sheer effort, discipline, and love. Kong Huan was fluent in Spanish, which became one of his greatest advantages and allowed him to connect, communicate, and navigate his new world in South Florida with confidence. He later opened Kung Fu Restaurant in Hialeah, a well-known spot that served the community for nearly 30 years.

Everything he did every sacrifice, every long day was for his family, and he wanted his children to succeed and excel. He always said so, and he meant it. He had a strong work ethic and held firm values around education, loyalty, and family. His dignity, values, and steadfast beliefs shaped the way he lived every day.

After 53 years of marriage, losing his wife was the moment he knew his time here was coming to a close. And 53 days after she passed, he knew it was time to be back with her and he finally let go to join her. We find solace in knowing they are together again.

Kong Huan is survived by his son, Andrew; his daughter, Irene (Scott); and his granddaughter, Sienna. He will be missed dearly and will be remembered for his immense strength, kindness and love.
