Loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend
Kathleen (Kathy) Moyer, 82 of Hialeah has passed away peacefully while in hospice care on November 6, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Richard Moyer, daughter Alicia Groncki, son Vince Moyer, granddaughter Anjelica Groncki, son -in -law Randy Groncki, sister Barbara Rose and niece Leslie Emery. She will be remembered for her devotion to the Lord and her love for her family. Her kind heart and her love of helping others.
Born and raised in Denver Colorado with her parents Mable and Clayton Fredrickson and her siblings Barbara and Deo Fredrickson, she graduated from Lakewood High school and married Richard at 18 years old. They met at a roller rink where he knocked her down and then asked her out (even gave her a kiss), they have never been apart since. He was in the air force in Denver so they lived there for a bit. They looked at living in San Francisco, but the smog was too much. So they then headed to the east coast and lived in Orlando in a trailer home for a while until they settled in Hialeah Florida in December of 1967 to be near Richards parents. They built the home that they still live in to this day and began a family.
Kathy worked in the banking industry for many years until she began to spend time volunteering for Palm Lakes Elementary school. After a few years of doing that, she was offered a job at Miami Lakes Middle School. She began working as an attendance clerk until she moved up to registrar. She spent 25 years working for MLM until retirement, but over 30 years with Dade County public schools. She watched kids grow up and have kids of their own come to MLM as well.
Kathy was devoted to the church and was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years at New Testament Baptist church in Hialeah and Central Baptist church in Miami sharing the love of the lord and hoping to save young souls along the way. She also volunteered in Overtown where she taught Haitians how to speak English and become American citizens.
She played the piano beautifully for many years filling her home with music. She traveled across the earth to faraway places like Italy, Isreal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England, Venezuela, Bahamas, and many more. She and Richard would ride their Honda motorcycle around the entire US and Canada on long road trips. She spent weekends on the family boat fishing, lobstering, and finding islands to have adventures on. She went to Disney world countless times making magical memories with her kids and granddaughter. Kathy loved her only grandchild like nothing else, showing pictures and telling stories of her to anyone who would look and listen.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the PKD foundation in her honor.
