Juan Ramon Sanchez, 93, of Opa-Locka, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27th, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. He lived a life that positively impacted everyone around him.

Juan Ramon, known to his close friends and family as "Moncho" or "Papi", was born on January 20, 1933, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, to Ana Maria Colon and Gregorio Cardona. He grew up in Barrio Capetillo to a humble life.

Juan Ramon had a variety of professions during his lifetime, but his passion was always carpentry. He called home to many places, to include Puerto Rico, New York City, NY, and Miami, Fl.

In and around 1980, Juan Ramon met his partner and love of his life, Isabel Marte Villafana, in the Dominican Republic. They married soon after and settled in Opa locka, Florida. There, they had two children Juan Manuel and Evangeline Sanchez.

Juan Ramon was known for being charismatic, loving, and giving. He was very hard working and driven when it came to his work life. He was very intelligent and he was astute with math and science, despite not having finished his schooling. He loved to learn and was always open to sharpening his skills. Juan Ramon was straight forward, sociable and warm with his family and friends. He had a great love for children, whether they were his own or not, which led him to adopt many children as his own.

He is survived by his children Andres Sanchez, Ana M. Sanchez, Juan R. Sanchez, Juanita Sanchez, Juan M. Sanchez, and Evangeline Sanchez. He also raised Hilda Serrano, Josefina Serrano, Zoraida Serrano, and Maria E. Serrano. He also is survived by many, many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren.
