Joyce J. Brodsky(JJ) of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away peacefully in the care of Treasure Coast Inpatient Hospice Center in the evening hours of the 4th of December 2025. A beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, she will be deeply missed.
Born to parents Victoria and John Koumjian in Brooklyn, NY, Joyce was the first of three daughters (Phyllis and Clarice). The Koumjain family relocated to Miami, Florida where they resided and worked the better part of their years. Joyce attended Miami Jackson high school where she was awarded valedictorian of her senior class. It was there at Miami Jackson, that she met Joe Brodsky, who would soon become her spouse for 48 years until his passing in 2006.
A woman of great intelligence, sharp wit, powerful spiritual connection, as well as a strong work ethic, Joyce's professional career included 27 years as a public school teacher in Dade County before retiring to support her husband's career as a professional football coach. She enjoyed a deeply connected community of close friends with whom she shared many travels and fond memories.
Her travels with friends and family brought her to many corners of the globe. Her most favorite countries visited were Austria and Switzerland. She had a great fondness for reading and was an outstanding host and homemaker.
Joyce is predeceased by her aforementioned parents, her sister (Clarice), and husband (Joe). She is however, survived by her sister, Phyllis - her three sons, Joe Brodsky Jr., Larry Brodsky, and Jeffrey Brodsky - her grandchildren, Nina Estes(Robbie), Amanda Stephens(Brian) and Joseph D. Brodsky - and her great grandchildren, Seanna and Hayes Stephens. All of whom loved and adored her.
Joyce struggled with dementia and various health issues for the past 10 years, which lead to her passing. With sadness in our hearts, warm and fond memories of the past will comfort us. We will think of her daily, visiting her spirit and honoring her memory always.
Visitation will be held on December 12, 2025 from 12-2:45pm with a burial service at 3pm.
