Joseph "Joe" Lee Sheaks

Joseph "Joe" Sheaks,81, passed away July 3rd at 5:35 PM in the afternoon at Baptist Hospital after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. As a child, He was a newspaper boy for the Champagne Gazette. He was a graduate of North Miami Senior High School in 1955 after which he was signed to the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team. He attended the University of Miami for 3 1/2 years majoring in marine biology. His hobbies were fishing, boating, and racing top-fuel dragsters. He founded, owned, and operated Florida Material Handling for 32 years. He held high morals and navigated the world with a very quick wit. He was adored by his children Lynda Sheaks (Jim Costello), Frank Sheaks(Cindy), and Laura Abbott(Mike). Joe also was adored by his five grand children Aaron, Nikki, Henry, Tara Anne, and Jack Joseph. Joe loved the beauty of the Florida Keys, and adored his beagles Sparky and Shelby. He was a nature and animal lover. He is survived by "Patty", his high school sweetheart and wife of 61 years. We will miss you so much, and we will never forget you. Funeral Services are being held at Vista Memorial Gardens Sunday July 8th at 6-9 pm. All friends and family are welcome.
