Jose Florencio Gómez, affectionately known as Pepe, passed away peacefully at his home in Hialeah, Florida on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the age of 92.

Pepe was born on May 5, 1933, in Guanabacoa, Havana, Cuba. He later made his home in South Florida, where he built a life rooted in hard work, love for family, and quiet strength.

Pepe and his beloved wife, Acacia Gómez, were unable to have children of their own. Yet together they created something far greater. They raised and loved many. Pepe helped raise members of Acacia's family and their children as if they were his own sons, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Through them, Pepe and Acacia leave behind a beautiful legacy of children and grandchildren who were deeply loved, guided, and inspired by their devotion, generosity, and unconditional care.

Pepe is also survived by his two sisters, Elena and Carmen, and by his many nieces and nephews on his side of the family, as well as their children and grandchildren. He held deep affection for each of them and maintained close, meaningful relationships across generations. His presence, guidance, and love extended well beyond himself, leaving a lasting impact on the entire family.

Pepe spent many years of his life as a truck driver, a profession that reflected his work ethic, reliability, and perseverance. Outside of work, he was an avid fisherman who cherished time on the water, especially alongside his best friend and brother in law, Jose E. Puentes. Those moments of friendship, laughter, and shared silence were among his greatest joys. While Pepe was not a formally educated man, he spoke with clarity and conviction, often sharing thoughtful reflections drawn from his own life experiences. Through these conversations, he taught valuable life lessons that resonated deeply with those who listened.

Above all, Pepe was a good friend and family man. His values, love, and example live on through the many lives he touched. He will be remembered for his humility, loyalty, wisdom gained through experience, and the steady presence he offered to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to Ana Hernandez, also known as Yadira, who cared for him with extraordinary love, patience, and devotion during his final years. She stood by him as a daughter would, providing comfort, dignity, and support. Our family will forever be thankful for her kindness, sacrifice, and the genuine care she gave during this most important time.

José Florencio Gómez, cariñosamente conocido como Pepe, falleció en paz en su hogar en Hialeah, Florida, el sábado 6 de diciembre de 2025, a la edad de 92 años.

Pepe nació el 5 de mayo de 1933 en Guanabacoa, La Habana, Cuba. Más adelante hizo de South Florida su hogar, donde construyó una vida basada en el trabajo duro, el amor por la familia y una fortaleza tranquila.

Pepe y su amada esposa, Acacia Gómez, no pudieron tener hijos propios. Sin embargo, juntos crearon algo mucho más grande. Criaron y amaron a muchos. Pepe ayudó a criar a miembros de la familia de Acacia y a sus hijos como si fueran sus propios hijos, hijas, nietos y bisnietos. A través de ellos, Pepe y Acacia dejan un hermoso legado de hijos y nietos que fueron profundamente amados, guiados e inspirados por su devoción, generosidad y cuidado incondicional.

Pepe también deja a sus dos hermanas, Elena y Carmen, así como a sus muchos sobrinos y sobrinas por parte de su familia, junto con sus hijos y nietos. Sentía un profundo cariño por cada uno de ellos y mantuvo relaciones cercanas y significativas a lo largo de varias generaciones. Su presencia, guía y amor se extendieron mucho más allá de sí mismo, dejando una huella duradera en toda la familia.
