Jose Arguelles

July 12, 1932 — January 11, 2025

Jose Arguelles 92 years old of Miami Lakes Florida passed away on Saturday January 11, 2025.  He was born to the late Juan Jose Arguelles and Sara Arias Arguelles on June 12, 1932 in Havana Cuba. Jose was the oldest of three siblings; his sister Sara Arguelles and the late Alfredo Arguelles.  Jose grew up on a farm with his family in Cuba.  He attended Escolapios de Guanabacoa Catholic School and studied engineering at the University.

Jose had a 1957 Chevy Studabaker which he adored and he was also a very talented baseball player.  In his town of Diezmero he was known as:

'Jose "Pepe" Arguelles ~ Rico, Guapo, Buenmozo, y 4 to Bate de La Novena'.

Jose later married the late Ana Julia Arguelles on January 31, 1964 and they along with his family left Cuba to flee communism in 1965.

They lived in New Jersey and later moved to South Florida which they called home since 1967.  Together Jose and Ana had two children, Ana Maria and the late Sara Arleen.

Jose worked at the Electrical Power Company in Cuba; when he came to the United States he continued his career and love for electricity. He worked at the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant in Homestead and later Port Everglades Power Plant in Ft. Lauderdale Florida.

Jose retired from Florida Power & Light (FPL) at the age of 60 where he worked for 17 years.  Jose enjoyed his retirement by traveling with his spouse, friends and children and went on many cruises as well as his most favorite place, Disney World.  Jose especially loved meeting with his friends and buddies from FPL for breakfast every Wednesday where they would stay connected by sharing time and stories.

Our Dad, our Grandfather was our rock...he was a smart, handsome family guy with the best stories about history and stories of our old Cuba back when it was a free and wonderful country. We enjoyed his company and spending hours watching Disney Movies, The Grinch and Home Alone.  We will miss you and carry your love and great memories in our hearts forever ♥️

Jose is survived by his daughter Ana Maria Arguelles of Miami Lakes Florida. He is also survived by his three grandchildren:

Kimberly Demos, Daniel Seaver Lopez and David Alexander Lea.

Jose has now gone home to God where he will reunite with his beloved wife Ana Julia and daughter Sara Arleen whom passed away in 2020 and 2023 and with the rest of his family and friends from Diezmero in Heaven. Together they will rest in peace and enjoy the glorious kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

"Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord".

Psalm 73:26 "My flesh and my heart ♥️ may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever" Amen 🙏
