Obituary

John Ulloa May 20, 1965 — May 14, 2026

John Ulloa, 60, of Hialeah, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

He was born in Los Angeles, California, to Juan Humberto and Isabel
Martinez de Ulloa, and moved with his family to South Florida shortly
after. On April 27, 1984, he married Ana Rodriguez, beginning what
would become more than four decades as a devoted husband, father,
grandfather, and provider.

For many years, John was a respected employee of EcoLab, where he was
known as a trusted colleague and friend. Outside of work, he lived
several other lives at once. He was the writer behind Double Impact,
Ravenous, Tommy, and many other titles for High Impact Comics and,
more recently, Creature Entertainment. He produced and appeared in
independent films. And to a circle of close friends, he was the
Dungeon Master whose knack for storytelling turned every Dungeons &
Dragons campaign into something unforgettable.

In the music business, they talk about label executives with "golden
ears." John had golden eyes. He had a rare gift for spotting raw
talent, and he gave many artists — several of whom have gone on to
well-known careers — their first commercial break. Once he believed in
someone, there was no waiting: he moved fast to get them started. He
helped artists believe in themselves because he believed in them so
deeply, and sometimes that is all a person needs to step into who they
are meant to be.

John worked hard for everything he had, and he shared everything he
had. His capacity for love and generosity was boundless, his
encouragement was sincere, and his good humor was contagious. He will
be missed beyond measure.

John is survived by his wife, Ana; his children, Alex and Christina
Ulloa, both of Hialeah, Florida; and his four grandchildren. He leaves
behind a circle of lifelong friends who considered him a brother.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6 p.m. to
