Isidoro Perez

July 23, 1939 — March 16, 2024

Isidoro Perez, 84 years old of Southwest Ranches, passed away on Saturday March 16th with his family at his bedside.

He was born in San Cristobal, Cuba in 1939 and immigrated to the United States in October 1962. The political refugee began his new life in New York working several jobs to bring his family out of communist Cuba. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own a gas station before landing in the textile manufacturing industry. Learning the business from the ground up, Isidoro co-founded PIBA Industries in Hialeah, Florida with his childhood friend Abe Burnstein in the 1980s. More than a decade later, Isidoro opened Fine Contract in Hialeah and later moved the sewing factory to the Dominican Republic, serving clients including Victoria's Secret and Donna Karen. His innovation of cotton-lycra led to the company producing its own private label, Gaviota, which was sold in Macy's, Bloomingdales and Nordstroms.

Isidoro is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margarita "Margo" Perez; his children Isidoro Jr. (Milly), Angel (Lissette) and Vivian (Keith); and his 5 grandchildren Christopher, Gabriel, Sophia, Audrey and Luke.
