Isel Theresa Martinez-Ahmad

Isel Theresa Martinez-Ahmad, 61, of Cuba, entered God's garden on February 23, 2023. She was born
June 30, 1961, to Felipe and Ofelia Martinez.
Isel, a graceful, loving, and devoted matriarch is survived by her two sons: Ahmeer and Naseer, and her
faithful dog, Edward.
Leaving her homeland as an infant, Isel grew up in Queens, New York. At a young age she showed
prodigious musical talent and was invited to teach at Juilliard as she entered her teens. She loved art in
all it's forms and was also a capable dancer. She met the love of her life while working as a secretary on
Wallstreet, Waseem Ahmad. They would soon marry and wanting to be closer to her family as they bore
children, moved to Weston, Florida.
Isel was a warm and welcoming person. She was also intensely loyal, devoted, and fiercely protective of
her loved ones. Isel was a mother to all and many who came to knew her affectionately called her "ma".
She was fun loving and would often tear up the dance floor with her family members regardless of
musical era (or her partner's dancing ability for that matter). Always fashionable and impeccably dressed
for any occasion, be it a ball or a rock concert, she was truly timeless.
Isel was a wonderous woman, whose generosity never failed in the face of whatever undue
circumstances she herself may have had to weather. Her passing has left an unfillable void in the hearts
of all who knew her. Her ability to endure, support, forgive, and love will forever live on in all she knew.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on March 10 th at Vista Memorial Gardens. Donations can be
made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
