Gloria Laffitte Cabrera,100, of Cooper City, FL, died peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born to Jorge Laffitte and Concepcion Gonzalez on October 9, 1924, in Havana, Cuba, the fifth of eight siblings. She met the love of her life, Rafael S. Cabrera at the young age of 15 and they married several years later on Sept. 6, 1947. They welcomed their only child Myriam, in 1950 and made their first home in Havana. They relocated from Cuba to Canton, Ohio, in 1953 for a job opportunity, followed by another move to South Florida in 1955, where they spent the rest of their lives and also hosted their parents and extended family who emigrated to the United States. Gloria was an excellent homemaker, who loved to cook and take care of everyone. She was an excellent seamstress, who could create her own patterns to make homemade clothing on her sewing machine. Matching dresses for herself and Myriam were her specialty. She adored orchids and flowers and had a beautiful collection at her Cooper City home.
Gloria and Rafael moved to Cooper City in 1972, when it was a small town, and had many neighborhood friends. They also loved to spend time in their Tavernier weekend home, where they and neighborhood friends loved to fish and get together to share happy times. Gloria and Rafael loved to dance! They loved to travel and went on tours overseas and several cruises enjoying beautiful places and countries.
Gloria is survived by her daughter Myriam (Cooper City), son-in-law Ronald Bennett; grandchildren Valeree Bennett Landy (Bo); Aaron Bennett (Audra); and Aimee Bennett. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Julia Landy, Alyssa Landy, and Ethan Bennett.
