Estrella De Leon

Estrella de León, 97, of Hialeah, Florida ascended peacefully to heaven on August 7, 2024, as her family showered her with kisses and prayer.

She was born in Guantanamo, Cuba, on June 8, 1927 to Camilo and Estrella Outumuro. She married Humberto de León, her beloved husband, on November 29, 1947.

In November 1965, she emigrated from Cuba to the United States with her four daughters to reunite with her husband and to start a new life in the land of the free. She widowed at 46 yet reminisced of their dancing days as if it were yesterday.

Estrella curated and embedded family traditions to create formidable bonds among one another forging unity that lasts. She selflessly devoted herself entirely to her family. She was their pillar of strength. Beyond the wisdom she spoke, she led by her actions. Her sole mission was to pave a path of opportunity for her family. She served as their confidant, wise counselor and fortress. She projected her radiant light through gratitude, generosity and song.

Estrella is survived by her sister, Mercedes Castañeda. Estrella's legacy lives on with her four daughters and sons-in-law, Dinorah and Leonel Callejas, Estrella and Jesus Bencomo, Karina and Alberto Taillade and Niurka and Jose Beceña; her seven grandchildren, Jorge Santana, Adriana Schwinghammer, Jenny Bencomo, Ginelle Lago, Stephanie Beceña, Priscilla Moncada, and Christina Beceña; her four grandsons-in-law, Sean Schwinghammer, Frankie Lago, Carlos Pita, and Nelson Moncada; and her five great-grandchildren, Broderick, Chloe, and Aidan Schwinghammer, and Riley and Ruby Lago.

A memorial service will be held at Vista Funeral Home at 5755 NW 142 Street, Miami Lakes, Florida 33014 on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 7 - 10 PM to celebrate Estrella's beautiful and love-filled life.

Estrella de León, de 97 años, residente de Hialeah, Florida, ascendió pacíficamente al cielo el 7 de Agosto de 2024 mientras su familia la colmaba de besos y oraciones.

Nació en Guantánamo, Cuba, el 8 de Junio de 1927, hija de Camilo y Estrella Outumuro. Casada con su amado esposo, Humberto de León.

En Noviembre de 1965, emigró de Cuba a los Estados Unidos con sus cuatro hijas para reunirse con su marido y comenzar una nueva vida en la tierra de la libertad. Enviudó a los 46 años y aún recordaba sus días bailando con el como si fuera ayer.

Estrella busco e incorporó tradiciones familiares para crear vínculos formidables entre sí, forjando una unidad duradera. Se dedicó desinteresadamente por completo a su familia. Ella era nuestro pilar de fuerza y energia. Más allá de la sabiduría que transmitió,  dirigió sus acciones. Su única misión era encontrar un camino de oportunidades para su familia. Ella fue su confidente, sabia consejera y forjo su fortaleza. Proyectó su luz radiante a través del agradecimiento, la generosidad y el canto.

A Estrella le sobrevive su hermana, Mercedes Castañeda. El legado de Estrella sigue vivo con sus cuatro hijas y yernos, Dinorah y Leonel Callejas, Estrella y Jesús Bencomo, Karina y Alberto Taillade y Niurka y José Beceña; sus siete nietos, Jorge Santana, Adriana Schwinghammer, Jenny Bencomo, Ginelle Lago, Stephanie Beceña, Priscilla Moncada y Christina Beceña; sus cuatro nietos políticos, Sean Schwinghammer, Frankie Lago, Carlos Pita, Nelson Moncada; y sus cinco bisnietos, Broderick, Chloe y Aidan Schwinghammer, y Riley y Ruby Lago.

Se llevará a cabo un servicio conmemorativo en Vista Funeral Home el miércoles 14 de Agosto de 2024 de 7 a 10 p.m. para celebrar la vida hermosa y llena de amor de Estrella.
