Obituary of
ELIZABETH BLAND (CAMPBELL) DELLINGER
(1936 - 1925)
ELIZABETH BLAND "BEBE" (CAMPBELL) DELLINGER, age 88, passed away peacefully in Miami, Florida, on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 8:35 a.m., in VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at the University of Miami UHealth Tower.
Born February 6, 1936, in Winchester, Virginia, Bebe was the youngest of twin daughters "by 15 minutes" of the late Carroll Edward Campbell and late Martha "Foffee" Elliott Tucker Campbell. In her early years, Bebe loved their family farmhouse on Clayhill Farm in Berryville, Virginia. After her parents' divorce, Bebe lived with her mom and twin in Winchester, Virginia and enjoyed dancing ballet until around 15 years old. After graduating from Shepherd College in 1960, she began her teaching career with 3rd graders in Fairfax County.
In 1962, at the United Methodist Church, in Arlington, VA., Bebe met and married the love of her life, the late Lawrence ("Larry") Lynn Dellinger, an air traffic controller and U.S. Airforce vet. The Dellingers then lived in Herndon, Virginia before relocating to Miami, Florida in 1967 with their two daughters (Carol Lynn, 3.5 years old, and Leslie Ann, 1 year old), after Larry was hired as a pilot for Eastern Airlines. In 1972, they welcomed their third child, a son, David Bland (deceased in 1975). After 24 years married, Larry and Bebe divorced.
While married, Bebe chose to take a break from teaching to manage their children and home. She enjoyed gardening, roller skating, dancing, and volunteering at church and at EAL conducting their school tours. She was a long-time member and two-time president of the Eastern Airlines Pilots Wives Club. After the divorce, she earned a master's degrees from Barry University in computers and went back to teaching, substituting at many Miami-Dade County public elementary schools for all grades until she retired in her mid-70s. She especially enjoyed teaching her elementary students.
While Bebe was a strong, tenacious woman, and often "bossy," her smile was stunning, and with her bright eyes, gracious heart, and southern charm, she could light up any room. She loved being helpful, talking to everyone she came across, making friends wherever she went, and touching many lives along the way.
Bebe is greatly loved and will be missed immensely by her youngest daughter Leslie Ann Dellinger Aceituno and grandson Lawrence Tucker Aceituno of Miami, Florida. She is also survived by her oldest daughter Carol Lynn Dellinger and granddaughter (Carol's daughter), Lauren "Ren" Armstrong, both of Falls Church, Virginia, and her step-niece Yvette Marie Kelley of Las Cruces, New Mexico. She will also be greatly missed by Leslie's ex-husband Luis Javier Aceituno, and his mother, Carmen Witte Aceituno, also of Miami, as well as Larry's many brothers, sisters and multiple generations of nephews and nieces too numerous to name, all of whom were much loved by Bebe.
In addition to her son, ex-husband, and parents, Bebe was recently pre-deceased by her twin sister, Carol Tucker ("Tuckie") Ard, as well as her Aunt Charlotte Catherine Campbell, Aunt Elizabeth Bland Tucker, and several cousins.
Bebe will be buried in the family plot, next to her mother, in the Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery, 110 North Church Street, Berryville, Virginia. No services will be held in Miami, Florida. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. Enders and Shirley Funeral Homes is overseeing burial arrangements in Berryville, Virginia and Vista Funeral Home is overseeing preparations and transportation from Miami Lakes, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider making contributions in her memory to the University of Miami Mailman Center for Child Development, 1601 NW 12 Avenue, Miami, FL 33136 or through their web page at https://med.miami.edu/centers-and-institutes/mailman-center
