In Loving Memory of Elia "Mima" Ali
It is with great sadness and immeasurable gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Elia "Mima" Ali, who peacefully
departed on July 10th, 2025 at the age of 93, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Cuba in 1932, Mima radiated courage, resilience, and unconditional love. She was the heart of our family – an unwavering presence
whose bold spirit and sage wisdom inspired us in moments both joyful and challenging.
Whether she was crafting on her sewing machine or sharing stories from her youth, Mima always made sure those around her knew how
much she loved them. Her smile was contagious, her sass was infectious, and her hugs could soothe even the most troubled heart. Her
happiest times were spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, picking them up from school and always wanting to know about their
day. Mima sewed Halloween costumes, prepared garments for special occasions, mended torn clothes, and cooked for everyone in the
house on any given night, all with the biggest smile on her face. So much of her joy came from the achievements of her family. Mima's impact
has been deeply felt by all those who have known her.
She is survived by her children, Emma Del Pozo (Jose), Elia Torres (Ignacio), Angel L. Ali; her grandchildren, Sara Gonzalez (Carlos),
Elizabeth Amore (Marc), Angel M. Ali, Christopher Torres, Katherine Orozco (Allan), Katrina Figueroa (Leo); her great-grandchildren, Michael
Oliveros, Abigail Amore, David Figueroa, Emily Orozco, and Allison Orozco; and countless others she considered her family, all of whom
carry forward her legacy of grace and perseverance. Mima was preceded in death by the love of her life, Angel Ali, with whom she is at last
reunited.
The family will host a viewing at Vista Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 17th, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Her funeral mass will be
held at the Sacred Heart Chapel at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, July 18th, 2025 at 9:00 a.m., immediately followed by
her burial at Vista Memorial Gardens.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her love lives on in every life lesson she passed down and every life she touched. We will miss her
more than words can express and cherish her memory for all our days to come. She will forever be our Mima.
