Eduardo Lavado

With great sorrow, the Lavado family announces the passing of Dr. Eduardo Lavado, 88, of
Santiago, Cuba, who passed away on March 4, 2023. He was a strong, generous, and loving
father, husband, grandfather, doctor, and person.

Eduardo was born to Francisco Lavado and Mercedes Gamez in Santiago Cuba and grew up
with his two brothers, Paquito and Lazaro. In 1967, Eduardo met his wife Zoila in Cuba.
Eduardo and Zoila went on to have 5 children, Eduardo, Marta, Edwin, Megan, and Mercy.

Dr. Lavado was an exemplary doctor specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. His career in
medicine spanned more than 60 years, bringing life into this world at notable hospitals such as
Palmetto General Hospital and Hialeah Hospital, and managed his own private practice for
more than three decades. He was renowned for being an intelligent, top-notch physician, and
always advocated for the rights of his patients.

He battled much adversity in the form of leaving his home country, completed his medical
degree in various countries, battled sickness, and yet, was still able to fully live out his American
Dream. He is a prime example of what strong work ethic, determination, grit, and resiliency look
like.

In 2020, Eduardo  retired and spent his time with his family, reading, and listening to his favorite
musician, Julio Iglesias. We will miss the way he tickled himself to laugh for photos, his love for
"reserva" wine, his eccentric suits, and his deep love for his familia.

Eduardo was predeceased by Francisco Lavado, Mercedes Gamez, and his brother Francisco
"Paquito" Lavado. He is survived by his wife, Zoila, children, Eddy, Martica, Papito, Megan, and

Mercy, sons-in-law Jorge and Robert, daughter-in-law Monica, and his grandchildren Marcus,
Matthew, Eaden, Mia, Eli, and Mila.

Services will be held at Vista Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 6:00PM-10:00PM.
A mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 15, 2023
at 10:00AM followed by the burial at Vista Memorial Gardens at 11:30AM.
