Doris Faye Hudson, 79, of Cooper City, entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, November 9, 2025, with her family by her side.
She was born to the late Ottis and Thelma Gay on June 5, 1946 in Cullman, Alabama. After relocating to Miami, Florida in 1958, Doris graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School in 1964. She soon married her beloved late husband, Harold Stanley Hudson, on October 15, 1964, and they lived in Hialeah, Florida. Unfortunately, Harry passed away in August of 1974, shortly before their 10-year wedding anniversary, leaving her to raise their 2 children. In 1980, Doris decided to relocate the family up to Cooper City, Florida where she resided till her passing.
Doris worked for the Broward County School Board as a Data Processor at Cooper City Elementary School for 28 years. She was honored as "Employee of the Year" twice. She retired in 2013. However, she still spent most of her time volunteering in the school for her grandkids. She was "Volunteer of the Year" in 2015.
Doris was a faithful servant of the Lord throughout her life. She dedicated many years to teaching Sunday School and bible studies. In the last few years, she had become an active member of First Baptist Church of Southwest Broward.
Doris is survived by her children Melissa Hudson Placa of Cooper City and William Michael Hudson of Weston. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Caileigh and Brian.
As Doris departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers – a whisper in the wind, a ripple on the water – a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Doris may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy she leaves behind.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 19th from 6-10 pm at Vista Funeral Home. A Christian burial will be held at 11 am, Thursday, November 20th at "Pinelawn II" in Vista Memorial Gardens.
