Delilah Alvarez

Delilah Alvarez (neé Castro) passed away on Friday, June 18th, 2021 around 3:45 PM. She
passed away at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was 46 years old.
Delilah was born on May 4, 1975 in Miami, Florida to Fidel and Maria Castro. She was the
eldest of five siblings who survive her and miss her terribly; Denise, Diana, Deisy, and Fidel
(whom she lovingly referred to as "Fito"). She was also an aunt to six nieces (Mairim, Gabrielle,
Annalyse, Jillian, Penelope, and Ruby) and four nephews (Alex, Mikey, Luke, and Lorenzo).
Delilah was the devoted wife of Gilberto Augustine Alvarez and mother of their two children:
Madeline Alvarez (22) and Gilbert Alvarez Jr (20). She was also a dog mom to Loki (8), who
stayed by her side and protected her until the end. She was extremely close to her mother-in-
law, Mercedes Alvarez, who lived with her and her family and viewed Delilah as her own
daughter. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Miriam and Vivian, and her brother-in-laws,
Cesar and Alexander.
Delilah met her husband in 1994 thanks to their mutual friend Gladys Rivera, and was a close
friend of his for two years. Eventually, they could no longer deny the attraction they felt towards
each other and began dating. They fell madly in love, so Gilberto proposed within only a couple
months of dating. Within six weeks of marriage, they discovered they were expecting their
daughter, and a son two years later.
They were married almost 24 years and were best friends. They had an extraordinary love story
and a close bond that no one could ever deny. She loved the time they spent together and the
family they raised more than anything in this world.
Her children drove her crazy— but she loved them deeply. She attended every baseball game
and debate tournament, all while fighting to ensure the best possible future and opportunities for
them.
Aside from her family, Delilah was deeply devoted to her career. She was a construction
executive at ANF Group, INC and her coworkers became a part of her family as well. The
Alvarez family would like to extend their deepest regards to her coworkers, bosses, and
colleagues who ensured she was paid and cared for until the end. Their kindness and love for
Delilah will never be forgotten.
She loved antiques, garage sales, collecting vintage glass, watching reality TV, and dedicating
her free time to researching her family's genealogy. There was nothing she ever wanted to do
more in this world than "lay in bed with a sandwich and a beer and watch the Real Housewives."
Delilah was tough, crass, and no-nonsense. She was the closest confidant of nearly every
member of her family and all of her friends; all of whom came to her for every bit of advice
possible. She was wise well beyond her years and right about almost everything. To know her
was to admire her.

Her family deeply mourns their loss and will always be incomplete without her. However, they
believe that she is now in a better place where she can guide and protect them. Delilah was
loved by all who knew her. Her husband and children ask that her friends and relatives
remember her as she was: beautiful, strong, intelligent, and dignified.
