In 1956, on the 14th day of October in Savannah, Georgia, Ella-Mae Singleton-Sykes and Clarence Grant presented to the world a bouncing baby boy, whom they named Clarence Singleton. Soon after, in 1959 he and his mother relocated to Miami, Florida where his journey in life would begin.
Clarence received his education throughout the Miami Dade Public Schools system graduating from Miami Central High School.
Preparing meals in the kitchen alongside his mother is what began his passion for cooking and leading him to pursue a career in the culinary industry. Mastering his skills, Clarence knew his favorite dishes would be anything for breakfast. Always a hard worker and willing to lend a helping hand contributed to him being lead-cook at the infamous Jimmy's Place.
In 1976, he met the love of his life Patricia who he nicknamed Nappy! They married and spent nearly 50 years together. She was by his side until his last breath. Before Clarence departed this earth ,he had given his life back to Christ and became a member of New Tabernacle of Praise Ministry. Clarence would then become an Elder of the church.
Clarence was a man of few words, a gentle giant with a heart of gold. He was an amazing husband, outstanding father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and mentor who loved to play cards, dominos, and spending time with his family while watching the Oakland Raiders play.
On the evening of September 25, 2024, Clarence was called home and gained his wings. He is preceded in death by his father Clarence Grant, his mother in law Patricia Johnson, his father in law Floyd Johnson, his daughter Angel Singleton, his brother Shawntray Grant, his sister in law Vera Robertson and brother in law Victor and Darren Johnson.
