Celia Ana Valdivia

July 26, 1925 — November 14, 2025

With profound sadness, the family of Celia Ana Valdivia announces her passing on November 14, 2025, at the age of 100. She passed peacefully in the loving company of her daughter, Elsa, and son-in-law, Constante Gil. Celia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Luis and Lorena Valdivia, as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She now joins her beloved middle son, Juan Jorge Valdivia, who preceded her in death, as did her former husband, Jorge Valdivia, who passed away 21 years ago.

Born on July 26, 1925, in Arequipa, Peru, Celia lived a life marked by courage, faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. In 1962, as a young mother, she made the brave decision to move to the United States, bringing with her only her youngest son, Luis, while her older children remained in Peru with her sisters. Despite not knowing the language and being frightened by the unfamiliar thunderstorms often hiding under the bed during storms she persevered. She worked as a live-in homemaker for a family who welcomed her young son as well, and through her dedication and hard work, she was soon able to reunite all of her children.

Celia was deeply committed to her Catholic faith, drawing strength and comfort from it throughout her life. Above all, she was devoted to her family. She not only raised her own children but played an essential role in raising many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, offering them guidance, stability, and unconditional love.

A gifted cook, Celia kept her family's Peruvian culinary traditions alive. Her home was filled with the aromas of cherished recipes that she gladly shared with anyone who asked. Her meals were expressions of love, nourishment, and heritage, and they created memories that will endure across generations.

Celia made friends easily and treasured the company of those around her. She is remembered with great warmth and affection by her nephews, nieces, extended family, and the friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, humor, and open heart.

Celia's presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the love she gave so generously will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
