On the morning of January 4th, 2016, Braulio Osvaldo "Ozzie" Perez passed away. He was born on March 26, 1948 in Havana, Cuba, to Tomas Perez and Maria Vera-Perez. Ozzie and his sister, Georgina fled Cuba as Pedro Pan children in 1961 and were relocated to an orphanage in Carrollton, Ohio. Their parents came to the United States in 1967 and the family was reunited in New Jersey and spent 5 years there before coming to Miami. Ozzie enjoyed a 43 year career at the Flagler Kennel Club/Magic City Casino. Ozzie was a truly dedicated Miami Dolphins, Miami Marlins, Miami Heat fan and loved the hours he spent attending and watching events with his family and friends. Ozzie loved to talk politics and current events with anyone willing to have a debate. In recent years Ozzie became an avid cycling enthusiast, riding every morning with his friend and neighbor, Ralph Perdomo and participating with his sons, Anthony and Christopher, in the Dolphins Cycling Challenge. Ozzie was a truly dedicated family man and was married to the love of his life, Debbie, for 35 years. They were truly blessed with three wonderful sons Mark, Anthony, and Christopher and three beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Debbie, his son Mark and his wife Alissa, and grandchildren, Michael and Megan, his son Anthony and grandson Elijah, and his son Christopher and his wife Leah, his mother, Maria, and his sister, Georgina. He is also survived by his myriad of friends, work family and extended family who will greatly miss his wit, his humor, his friendship, and enthusiasm for life. He will be missed by all. Ozzie's viewing will be held today, Wednesday, January 6, 2015 from 6 PM to Midnight at Vista Funeral Home (14200 NW 57th Ave, Miami Lakes, FL 33014). A Mass in his honor will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2015 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church (15801 NW 67th Ave, Miami Lakes, FL 33014) following his burial at his final resting place at Vista Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers Ozzie requests a donation sent to Sisters of the Good Shepard, PO Box 340 Carrollton, Ohio 44615.
