Bernice Cadogan, age 92 passed away peacefully on March 12, 2021, in the hands of her two sons Carlos and Ariel Cadogan. She was a devout Seventh Day Adventist and serving the Lord was her passion. Bernice became a Seventh Day Adventist on April 23, 1952.
Bernice is survived by her two sons, (Carlos and Ariel Cadogan), daughter (Leila Cadogan), grandsons (Richard Cadogan and Christopher Brown), granddaughter (Vonisha Cadogan), great grandchildren (Richard Cadogan Jr. and Zaire Waithe) and first cousin (Aba Lewis).
Bernice was born in Barbican St. Andrew, Jamaica to Jeremiah McNaught and Alice Allen. Things were rough following the loss of her mother when she was 7 years old. At the age of 21, she fled to Cuba from Jamaica with her cousin Eva Lewis in seek of a better life.
While in Cuba she learned the most valuable lesson of her life, that she shared with everyone she encountered; "how to pray". She prayed for a companion and out of nowhere appeared Conrad Cadogan (late husband). In 1953, Conrad Cadogan and Bernice Cadogan wed and later they had 3 children.
In 1975, the Cadogan's came to the United States in pursuit of a new life. Bernice raised her grandchildren and her community. She was a God fearing lady and nothing matter more to her than to help those in need. She lived a very meek lifestyle. Her past time was filled with visiting hospitals to provide care and pray for those that were sick, church on Saturdays, and cooking for less fortunate individuals and families.
Bernice devotion and faith to the Lord was so strong that she felt that if she could not spread the Lord's word, then she had no value. She always prayed that when the lord is ready for her, she would prefer to go to sleep. God granted Bernice's wish of a peaceful transformation from life in the flesh to life in spirit.
She is survived by:
