Obituary

Asuncion Hernandez Lopez Gonzalez, affectionately known as "Suncy," passed away on March 23, 2026, in Kissimmee, Florida. Born on August 5, 1932, in Havana, Cuba, her life was a testament to courage, creativity, and the enduring power of family.

Suncy's journey began amid the vibrant streets of Havana, where she nurtured a passion that would later define her life's work. Alongside her devoted husband, Pastor A. Gonzalez, they made the brave decision to leave Cuba in 1958. With nothing more than a suitcase and their three-year-old son, Jesus, they ventured to New York in search of a better future. It was in New York that their daughter Sandra was born, and years later the family settled in Hialeah, Florida—a place that would witness the blossoming of their dreams and dedication.

A woman of remarkable talent and devotion, Suncy attended a two-year technical college in Pattern Design, honing skills that allowed her to work closely with fashion designers. Her hands brought to life exquisite dresses, from childhood matching outfits for her daughter to stunning replicas of high-brand fashions that many deemed unattainable. These creations, often inspired by Vogue Magazines and the chic boutiques of Bal Harbor Shops in Miami, were her loving gifts—symbols of her creative spirit and boundless love.

The memories she crafted within her family remain vivid.. Both Suncy and Adolfo loved unconditionally. Adolfo, a respected mechanic who had faced adversity early in life—losing his parents at a young age and raised by siblings—became a loving and compassionate man, who truly appreciated family. He worked at a trucking company repairing engines, and after work, he would rebuild and upgrade a Corvette engine with his son, Jesus. His daughter, Sandy, would learn by observing, which later led to her engineering degree. On weekends, Suncy delighted in sewing new dresses and cruising Miami with Adolfo to visit family, moments filled with simple joys and lasting togetherness.

Suncy's legacy lives on through her cherished children and grandchildren. Her daughter, Sandra Seefeldt, together with her husband William, and grandchildren William (and daughter-in-law Clarissa), Ryan, and Jason Seefeldt, carry forward the warmth and resilience she embodied. Her son, Jesus A. Gonzalez, alongside his wife Aymee Morales, and their children Michael Gonzalez, Michelle Garcel (and son-in-law Jose), David Gonzalez, and Bianca Silva, as well as great-grandchildren Dylan, Mason, Jayden, Frankie, and Valentina, are living testaments to her enduring influence.

A visitation to honor Asuncion will be held on April 3, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Vista Funeral Home, located at 5755 NW 142nd Street, Miami Lakes, Florida. The burial service will follow on April 4, beginning at 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM, at the same location.

Asuncion “Suncy” Gonzalez was more than a seamstress, more than a mother and wife—she was a beacon of hope, resilience, and artistry. She stitched not only fabric but the very threads of her family's history, rich with courage, love, and unyielding spirit. Her story will forever resonate in the hearts she touched and the lives she shaped.
