Antonio Jesus "Tony" Canovas Jr. died unexpectedly on March 12, 2017 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the age of 52. Tony is survived by his parents, Antonio J Canovas Sr, and Gladys Canovas, his sister Janet Salgado and her husband Jorge Salgado. His niece Megan Pimentel and nephew Michael Pimentel. All from Hialeah, Florida. Tony was born on 10/17/1964 in Havana, Cuba, then moved to Spain in 1965, then 3 months later, came to Miami with his parents. He graduated from Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School in 1982. He received a scholarship to Miami Dade Community College, majoring in Architecture in 1982-83. After college Tony moved to Fort Lauderdale where he has since resided. For the last 32 years, he has had a successful career in the banking /mortgage business, working for First Trust Mortgage since 1999. In addition, having a natural talent in the arts, Tony recently had his first art show, displaying his new series of paintings and multimedia work. He was deeply loved and adored by his friends and family, never missing a family holiday or event.
A funeral was held on March 16, 2017 at 6pm at Vista Funeral Home, with a reception following.
