Andrea de la Vega, 92, of Pembroke Pines, Florida passed away on September 29 , 2021 surrounded by a sea of love from her family .

She was born to the late Bienvenido and Julia Diaz, December 15, 1928 , in Artemisa, Cuba. Julia Diaz was a school teacher and a mother to seven children.

Andre a married the late Rafael M. de la Vega in 1951, and they lived together in Artemisa before emigrating to the United States in 1966. Andrea is survived by her son, Rafael de la Vega and daughter-in-law Maria de la Vega; daughter, Barbara Suarez and son-in-law Jorge Suarez,; grandchildren, David and Mark de la Vega, Angelica and Michael Suarez , and by her sister Jul ia Pelaez. She was predeceased by her loving husband in 1999 and her siblings: Jaen Diaz, Florentino Diaz, Osvaldo Diaz, Orlando Diaz and Mercedes Castillo.

Andrea was a devoted wife and mother who sacrificed her future so that her children could live in f reedom. She sent her 10 year old son , Rafael, to the United States ahead while the family stayed behind so that he could pursue his dreams without limitations. The rest of the family reached the United States four years later after leaving all material passions behind in Cuba. After the family was reunited in the United States, she along with her husband Rafael reinvented themselves in a new country and worked at Suave Shoe Corporation for over 30 years.

Andrea loved to cook and was a great connoisseur of Cuban cuisine. She would always ask you if something was wrong when you did not ask for second helpings. Andrea was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren and leaves nothing behind but beautiful memories and a lasting legacy on the importance of sacrificing today for a better tomorrow.

Her unselfishness and her resilient spirit will always live in the life of everyone she touched.
