Alberto Rodriguez, 100, of Hialeah Fl. Passed away and went to heaven on March 25, 2024, with his son Gilberto by his side.
He was born in Habana, Cuba, to the late Geronimo Rodriguez and Ofelia De Los Reyes on April 01, 1923.
Alberto began practicing playing the trumpet at the age of 14 to become a renowned trumpet player in Cuba, playing numerous venues with great big bands and known singers such as Tony Martin, Ginger Rodgers, and more.
He played with the bands of Benny More, Ernesto Lecuona, which he traveled with to Venezuela in 1946. Celia Cruz, los hermanos palao, Los hermanos castro, etc.
After being exiled to the United States arriving in New York in 1967 he played numerous venues with numerous artist such as Tito Puentes and Mongo Santamaria, etc.
Alberto later received a 5 year contract to play at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in the early 70's from known promoter Pupi Campos.
Back in Miami, Florida, Alberto played with numerous artists and bands throughout the years to come.
Alberto Rodriguez "Wakuki" then became famous as El Chacal de la Trompeta in the popular T.V. program Sabado Gigante which he stared in for numerous years.
Alberto is survived by his son, Gilberto.
